Is this the New 2013 Volvo V40 Hatchback?

Volvo has been teasing the new V40 hatchback for quite some time now as the Swedish company is building up anticipation for the five-door model's world premiere at next month's 2012 Geneva Auto Show.

Today, however, French car magazine L'Automobile published two undisguised images of what it claims to be the new V40. The first cropped picture shows the front end of the compact model while the second grainy image gives us an unobstructed view of its rear end and profile.

Swiss Volvo Driver Keeps Warm the Traditional Way – with a Wood Burning Stove…

Here's a quick question. Who do you think is zanier: Pascal Prokop that replaced the passenger seat of his 1990 Volvo 240 station wagon with a… wood-burning stove or the Swiss authorities that approved the car and allow Prokop to use it on public roads?

While you think about it we'll tell you that Prokop told news reporters that he opted for the stove over an electric heater because he could keep former burning long after he turned off the car.

Birds on a Wire: Volvo's Teaser for the New V40 Hatchback

While Volvo is not quite ready yet to lift the covers off the all-new V40 compact hatch, the Swedish automaker has published a new 30-second clip called "Birds on a wire" to promote the individuality of the five-door hatchback model, without actually showing the car itself.

The V40 is set to make its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in the beginning of March. It will rival the five-door versions of the BMW 1-Series and the Audi A3 Sportsback. Volvo has not yet clarified if it will also present a replacement for the three-door C30.

Wanted: Automotive Partner for Small Car Development; Contact Volvo

Going it alone on new model development is a costly endeavor even for large automotive groups – and practically out of the question for smaller manufacturers.

Volvo until now has built all of its models around the platforms and powertrains from its former owner Ford. Now it is seeking a new partner to jointly develop its next generation of compact models.

Currently owned by Chinese carmaker Geely, Volvo recorded an impressive 20 percent increase in sales last year. Still, with some 450,000 units, it remains a small player in the global automotive industry, thus the need for cost sharing on new model development.

Volvo Out For New Generation Of Hometown Heroes

All-New Volvo XC70, the next generation of Volvo's segment defining

For the fifth year in a row, the Volvo Cars of North America is out on a hunt. They are not looking for a particular place or spot to bury a new and uniquely themed vehicle like the Volvo XC90 Pirate Themed Search. This time around, they are on the search for a hometown hero which they would be awarding as part of the company's Volvo For Life Awards.

The Volvo For Life Awards has been done for five years already, with this year counting as the fifth. It is a national public service program and what it does is it actually recognizes and honors those hometown people who have become heroes in their own ways and scopes of work. Of course, the company is not just looking for anybody. They would like to honor a person who has become a hero through his or her efforts at making moves to improve the safety and quality of life in their community. Or these new set of heroes may have been working towards a better quality of the environment. If you know one, you can nominate him or her and celebrate this person's everyday heroism.

The new model strengthens Volvo's position in the premium estate

Volvo would be selecting the overall winner. There would only be one winner, of course, and he or she would be named "America's Greatest Hometown Hero." Not only would his or her efforts be given much recognition and praise. The winner would not just be given a set of Volvo P1800 parts or accessories. The hometown hero winner would be given one new Volvo car every three years – for the entire duration of his life. All these just because of his or her efforts at trying to change the environment or his or her community to make it better.

With the new Volkswagen Golf now out and in showrooms across the globe

According to the company, they continually recognize these hometown heroes because they do believe that such heroic contributions that individuals could do to the environment and the community are exemplary. In fact, these heroes also are great inspirations for many other people
