We talked to USCIS and they say to wait for notice and they do not have nay reason to tell over phone as they do not have access to NOTICE.

If your I-94 is only issued until your H1B is valid or until AP is valid, you don't have to worry about extending your I-94 once that H1b or AP expire. When you renew your H1b or AP, it acts as your I-94. Matter of fact, the bottom portion of your H1b approval notice is also the new I-94.
I have travelled numerous times between the US and India since 1994 and not once did I ever worry about the validity of the I-94 because I was always "in-status".

I am not starting this thread to start get any offensive resposnes. I feel that we need to distinguish ourselves from the illegal people and make the American public aware of our issue. How many will understand our current situation by hearing our name? I understand that name change is not a simple process for an org and might involve some paperwork. The website redirection shouldnt be a big deal though. This is not the need of the hour as the core group might be busy working with QGA.

I recently went for my 10 year H-1B stamping in hyderabad in august end. I got the 221g slip and as in your case, the officer retained my passport. They requested info about my company which I duly provided in a weeks time. I got my visa approved and passport in my hands in early november so it took about 70 days. Obviously every case is different so I cannot say how long your case would be pending but my brother had to wait about 60 days for his visa stamping.
My company was ok with me staying back for the stamping. Though I have AP/EAD (July 2007 filer) I used the opportunity to spend time with my family. I came back last week with no issues at the POE. Good luck with your case

Before 180 Days for those 140 approved
Do a H1 transfer and extension to new company which you like..
(don't use EAD with the new company)
Stay with the present company for some secondary part time job just not to get him mad (or take a vacation)
2 months would fly when you are making now decent money...
do whatever after 180 days.
I spoke with my Lawyer on this approach and says he doesn;t see any issue with this since I140 approved..

This could be a second part of campaign for administative fixes. also, please include some strategy to fight for FIFO processing. This is also very important issue
I don't think the core is even bothered to take up on issues like this where USCIS operations is concerned..
why wait for all these bills to get passed to recapture visas and stuff like that when the ideal solution would be to make USCIS more efficient...
Let's say Hr5882 passes in 2009... and recaptures all the lost visas ..but what will happen in 2012 ?? I assume another recapture bill would have to be passed to recapture the recaptured visas... this is all a joke....
Why cant USCIS be more efficient and transparent from the beginning but I guess the core doesn't think its important enough right now.

I just called the DMV, they are again blindly saying that they just accept I-94 and nothing else. When i tried explaining them about how this is being handled in other states, they told me that this is TEXAS....we go by our own rules. I don't think i have any other option other than going for Premium.

My wife got all the AP paperback after her return from India. One AP have stamp. Two AP papers are not touched.
I got all three AP documents back. I had an expired Visa stamp in the passport. They checked one of the AP document and gave it back after stamping it.

Yes, there are companies and individuals who are misusing the H1b system, but this is the case with any law, regulation not just immigration. You will never have a perfect system. An example of this is democracy, we are well aware that democracy with its virtues, comes with a price of chaos and corruption. This does not mean we opt for a totalitarian system.
The H1b represents the American Dream for Indians and a lot of other folks from across the world. Plumbers, carpenters, coal workers, homeless people, and literally bums were allowed to immigrate thorough Ellis Island without even needing a visa. Now to come and say that you need to be a genius to get an H1b visa, and IITs are not the best institutions is just preposterous. This report basically states that mojority of H1bs are incompetent folks who come from weak US universities. The Amercican Dream is a universal concept that should be protected at any cost. Protectionist legislation with stymie growth.
The report focuses on H1bs stealing American Jobs, is there any data on the kind of people being displaced, their qualifications?
Put aside the h1b for a minute, what about the agricultural workers who come here, do you need to be the best cherry picker in all of Mexico to work in the US?
Now, this report was published in 2003, it has been buried for good reason.
How do you define "Genius", is Albert Einstein a genius? Is this a measurable concept? Do geniuses create jobs? History tells us that geniuses made a lot of news and history but very little else. The world runs not because of geniuses, but because of a few smart people and millions of average folks.
Do we need to tackle mom&pop h1b sweatshops? yes, but not by changing the fundamental nature of "h1b".
